Hobbs Wins Kerrisdale Holiday Window Contest
Kerrisdale Business Association President Leo Franken seen here is flanked by the owners of Hobbs - Tom Hobbs (left) and Brent Beattie (right). The stylishly decorated Hobbs window won the 2nd Annual KBA Holiday Window contest which was selected by Kerrisdale Idol judges Tara Hungerford and Eric Hogan, both with extensive backgrounds in set design, video & film production and marketing. President Franken presented the winners with a prize package courtesy the Fairmont Chateau Whistler (featuring one night free accommodation with meals included), BCAA Kerrisdale Branch (who assembled all the prizes), the Kerrisdale Business Association and AAA Horse & Carriage. When asked about his window design, Beattie shared his winning philosophy. "Decorating the window inside, mixing eclectic pieces with classic ones, is a great start. But equally important is extending the decoration to "outside" the window with lights and greenery. It doesn't take much to impart the spirit of the holidays and it's always good for business." Second runner up this year was the beautiful Hill's of Kerrisdale window and next in line came Sweet e's, last year's window winner. Kerrisdale is a great place to window shop, especially in the evening, during the holidays with its bedecked swags and curling LED lights decorating every lamp post. Congratulations to all KBA members who helped make Kerrisdale one of the most seasonally beautiful shopping areas in Vancouver.

Constable Ray Gardner is Citizen of the Year!
The highlight of this year's Annual General Meeting for the Kerrisdale Business Association was the presentation of the Citizen of The Year Plaque. For the first time in their long history the KBA went outside of their association to honour the Kerrisdale Community Policeman in the area, Constable Ray Gardner. KBA Beautification Committee Chair Brent Beattie told the audience that Ray Gardner exemplified all the best of what the Vancouver Police Department represents. He went on to cite the many issues that Constable Gardner has helped resolve during his short time on the beat in the Village of Kerrisdale. "Too often we only hear about the police in negative connotations and that's just not a true representation of the facts. Ray in particular and the VPD in general, do an outstanding job and it's our pleasure to tell him tonight how much we appreciate his dedication to the work", Beattie went on to say before presenting Constable Gardner with a special plaque.
